Wild West Fest coming May 19

Wild West Fest
Join in the fun at this year’s Wild West Fest, celebrating the Native American culture with demonstrations, crafts, activities, and entertainment, Saturday, May 19, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park, 6200 Flying LC Lane in Carlsbad.
 
Enjoy pony rides, a salsa tasting contest and an adventure activity card taking you through Native American themed activities and projects.
 
Admission is free. Some activities require purchase of a $5 activity card. Food is also available at additional cost. Free parking is available at Carrillo Elementary School with access to the ranch through the school field.
 
Entries are still being accepted for the salsa-making contest. Prizes will be awarded in the categories of Best Overall, People’s Choice, Best Presentation, Best Restaurant Salsa, Best Fruit Salsa, Hottest Salsa and Most Unique. There is no entry fee, but pre-registration is required by May 16. Entry forms are available online at www.carlsbadca.gov/parksandrec, or call 760-602-7519.
