Carlsbad Police and community members honored for service

In front of a standing room only crowd of friends, families and well-wishers, the City of Carlsbad Police Department recognized exemplary achievements by members of the department as well as the public at its annual Police Awards Ceremony Wednesday, Feb. 8. Read a news story about the awards

The 2012 awardees include:
• Police Officer of the Year, Derek Harvey
• Civilian Employees of the Year, Records Division Employees Lydia Deets, Mollie Dentoni, Diane Anderson, Michelle Smith, Patrick Wilhelm, and Joy Hook
• Supervisor of the Year, Delphine Fisk (Records Supervisor)
• Police Explorer of the Year, Colleen McMahon
• Reserve Officer of the Year, Keith Blackburn
• Senior Volunteer of the Year, Clark Vollbrecht
• Station Volunteer of the Year, Paul Smith
• DUI Officer of the Year, Adam Young
Department members were also recognized for safe driving, educational achievement, and distinguished service.
A lifesaving award was also presented to Officers Reid Shipley and Brendan Kidd for performing life-saving CPR on a three-week-old baby. Community members Jill Tarman and Patrick Beaty were recognized for their assistance in identifying a suspect in a burglary series targeting elderly victims.
